Capturing Downtown Vibes: Melissa & Jeremy’s Wedding at YellowBelly Brewery
As a wedding photographer in Newfoundland and Labrador, I’ve always adored the end of June—especially when the city opens its downtown pedestrian mall. This vibrant atmosphere creates a stunning backdrop for couples looking to capture the essence of their special day. I had the pleasure of photographing Melissa and Jeremy’s wedding, and their choice of venue was nothing short of perfect.
A Venue with Character
Melissa and Jeremy held their ceremony and reception at YellowBelly Brewery, right in the heart of downtown. The venue boasts old brick walls and charming wood accents, creating an inviting, rustic ambiance ideal for dark and moody photography. The brewery's unique character matched perfectly with the couple’s style, allowing for some stunning images that captured the spirit of their day. Pre-Ceremony Moments
Though Melissa and Jeremy opted not to do a first look, we started the day with some fun shots of the groom and his party. It was a great way to ease into the excitement of the day. After capturing some candid moments with the groom, we transitioned to the bride, where the anticipation in the air was palpable.
Following the pre-ceremony photos, we made our way to the ceremony site. It was an intimate gathering, filled with love and laughter, and it truly set the tone for the celebrations to come. After the "I do's," we headed over to Government House for some family pictures. This location offered a beautiful contrast to the brewery, adding depth and variety to their album.
Exploring Downtown
Next, we took advantage of the bustling pedestrian mall. With the vibrant atmosphere all around us, I knew we could create some striking images. The lively streets, filled with locals and visitors alike, provided an excellent backdrop for capturing the couple’s joy and connection. We played with the architecture and the energy of downtown, resulting in some stunning portraits that truly reflected the day's spirit.
Wedding Reception at YellowBelly Brewery
After our photo session, it was time for cocktails at O'Reilly's Pub, a fantastic way to celebrate with friends before the main event. Then, we returned to YellowBelly Brewery for their reception. The venue transformed beautifully for the evening, and the atmosphere was filled with warmth, laughter, and celebration.
